ANOTHER WEEKEND AWAY

Isn't is great when a group of like minded friends can get together and throw together a quick weekend getaway. Well recently I was asked just this, an over night camp with some basic facilities and a few challenges along the way for several near stock 4wders.

The plan was to meet in Coffs early on the saturday morning and head out. Our destination was the Nymboida Canoe Centre for the overnight stay. Heading out we wandered up through the Coffs Hinterland towards the mighty Nymbodia river, but before then it was a stop over at the historical Cascade mill, where ammo boxes were made and then eventually burnt down for a movie, called Winds Of Jarrah.

Great place to stop and wander through the old gear that still stands. Back on the road and we were soon at Platypus Flats for lunch and a kick back. From here we headed through to Clouds Creek after crossing the Blicks River and travelling through old growth forests and stunning rainforest pockets.

Wasn't long before hitting camp and further exploring the old power station and a fourby in a nearby quarry.

Next day was as simple as heading back into the Nymbo Nat Park, following several ridges and finally dipping down through some tricky creek crossings and hill climbs.

A great weekend away with some great mates.
