FRIDAY CREEK

Just 20 mins out of Coffs hidden in amongst pristine rain forest, lies a creek that cuts its way through the Coffs hinterland. Tucked up in the far end of the Orara Valley lies what us locals call Friday Creek.

Heading just 7km west of coffs, turn left onto mount Browne road and continue onto South Island Loop Road. Passing through the stunning Orara Valley till the road becomes North Island loop road. Here on the left is Dingo Creek Fire Trail. Now while a 2wd car can get the first pool on the left, you'll need a 4wd to get to what we call the magic pools, or the rock slide.

Go along Dingo Creek until the 2nd track on the right, then follow Carmody’s Trail for around 4km until you see the Rock Slide down on your left. Park and enjoy. Great place to swim or even plank.

One section in particular has large rock pools, deep enough to either jump off a side cliff ( well a 15 foot bank !!! )... or slide down a smooth rock waterfall. The great thing about this area is that you just see a minimal amount of people up there, and when you do it is only the locals that really know where to go. Explore the side trails at the lush rainforest and pristine creeks, if your lucky you'll find some old bridges and other little waterfalls.

Its great having these options so close to home.
